Dear ACCESS gurus,
I developed split ACCESS database: the front-end is in ACCESS with Visual Basic programming, and the data comes from linked to tables on our SQL server. I'm using ACCESS 2010.
For a multi-user environment, the database was successfully deployed as an .accde file. Then the owner wanted some changes made. I made a copy of the full version (.accdb file) and proceeded to unlock previously locked fields and, allowed deletions on a subform.
To prevent data loss, I converted links to live tables and made them local. I then re-set the relationships on the copy and I'm able to edit the relationship properties. Everything works fine on the COPY, i.e. the one with local tables, so I made the same changes to the live version. However, the live version will not allow deletions, instead I get this message:
"The Microsolf database engine stopped the process because you and another user are attempting to change the same data at the same time."
As many ACCESS programmers will know, ACCESS does not always provide meaningful error messages - in fact, it sends you way off tangent. In this case there are no other users working on the system because it's in a secure area. Secondly, on my live copy, I'm unable to edit the Relationships window. I'm under enormous pressure to get this database functioning again - so I would appreciate any help/suggestions from this forum. Thank you so much!
