Application under 2013 and 2010 crippling slow on a network.
Program written in ’13 macros by a novice. Split front and backend. Runs fine on single machine; tested on several OS versions on various computers. Always too slow to use on a fast, modern, local area network.
I’ve been asked to help.
I’ve increased MaxBufferSize which seemed to solve it for half an hour on several machines , but it fell back to un-usability. I suspect this is telling me something vital but I don’t know what.
As I’ve been programming in VBA since 2000 I know and have tried most well known setting changes to increase speed: "Name Auto-Correct" setting is off, IP 6 is off, etc. etc.
I also tried translating the macros into VBA, (which was frustrating and only worked once) but the VBA code will not run reliably and so I cant study what the code is doing – not that it seems to matter – it looks like a system/Access version issue.
I also tried going back to an MDB but Access chokes at this generally given it’s a ACCDB under ‘13, and when I got it to work the MDB under 2003 is seen as corrupt – even when I transfer the tables via VBA code to text files first.
