Auto populate inventory form field from separate main form.

I have a main table with a lot number and numerous other tables with inventory items such as signs, # of spaces etc. What I would like to do is select a particular lot from a main table form and have that number automatically populated in each of the subsequent inventory forms. The inventory tables are separate from the main table as may be numerous entries for each lot and making a field for sign 1, sign 2, etc makes the table too big. I have the lot numbers related in a one (main) to many (inventory table) relationship but can't get the lot number to populate in the inventory tables. I can make a list box for each inventory form and have the user select the lot number, but I can see where this may cause data entry errors if the wrong lot is chosen. I have limited VBA experience, so a "control" fix would be best if applicable.

Perhaps a form/subform arrangement is needed for this requirement.
