    Can't open Access file

    Hi,

I have Microsoft Access DataBase file 2007. I tried to open it I got an error message "unrecognized file format".

The machines are DELL Windows 7 32bits with Microsoft office 2007.

While this file is worked with DELL Windows 7 64its.

Why I got this error and how to solve it?

    Thank you

It could be corrupted...1st open Access program (NOT the database)
    then open your database
    if it says this again,

instead of open, try database tools, compact repair, then choose your db file.

if that fails, you may have to restore from backup.
(backup..which you should do everyday even if its just a copy / paste to a folder)

Are you running Access 64-bit version on the 64-bit machine?
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.

As I know it is Access 2007 but I don't have an idea about Access 64-bit version. How can I know that?

Wait, I think 64-bit wasn't available until Access 2010. So that doesn't explain the issue.

I have forgotten where 2007 shows the version. On the 64-bit machine, try: Access/Office Button > Help
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.
