I've checked that all users are set to open access shared, the file properties does not have read only checked but yet when another user open it, it says read only. PLEASe HELP - I've spend so much time trying to get this figure out.

If your db split, does each user have their own copy?
HTH
Thanks, I did. I've split the database, but I think I may still be doing something wrong because if I open it on one of the other user's computers it still says read only. I may not understand how splitting works? The thing is 3 of us enter date and what happens when you add a new entry it displays or the incidents for that location so if each user has their own file then there is not a complete picture of all incidents?
Check these settings. Also, make sure the db file itself is NOT read only.

Thanks so much for your reponse. If you don't mind how do I check that the DB file itself is not read only?
Right Click the db file and look at the properties and make sure it is NOT Read Only. Make sure NO boxes are checked.
That's what I thought. I've done all that, but continue to have issues.
When you use a split database does each user have to access from the same front end file? Or can they take what they receive and put on their desk top and it will automatically update the back end?
Each user should run their own copy of the frontend. (We put these at the C: root on each computer.) Each front end must have links to the backend on the server. Two types of link paths:
1. drive letter
S:\folderpath\filename
Every user must have the same drive path mapped on their computer.
2. UNC
\\servername\folderpath\filename
Driver letter mapping is irrelevant. I use VBA code to set this before distributing the frontend.

I'm sorry not clear about where do I put the link path?
Set drive letter path table links in the frontend using Linked Table Manager.
Then for each computer in Windows Explorer, set drive path.

The input is done from a form and when I open the front end on the other user's computer it does not open the form from which they are supposed to do the input?
It won't unless the database is designed to do that. Set default form in database properties.

I did but when it opens the form the menu options are not there
Want to provide db for analysis? Follow instructions at bottom of my post. Provide both FE and BE files.

You need to get help from your system administrator. June7 gave you some good advice and examples. We can't see what you are seeing or know the specifics.
