Go to record in main form by double clicking subform

    Hi all,

First of all, let me say that I am extremely new to Access so apologies for being a newb.

I've got a main form with a linked subform inserted below in datasheet view. I would like for the user to be able to double click any record in the subform and have that navigate to the same record in the main form above.

A zip of my database is attached. Any help with this would be much appreciated.

    Thank you!

I did not download your db. Do you not have one record on the main form with many records on the subform? Is this not a matter of setting focus back to the main form? Perhaps I misunderstand!

You want the same data to show on the main form that is displayed in record of subform? That sounds like a split form. Have you looked at the split form object? I did a quick test by using the wizard to create form and placed the other subform in the upper section. All seems to work.

    Alternatives will require code.

    Welcome to the forum.....

I see several problems with your dB. Object names should only contain letters, numbers and the underscore. Shouldn't use punctuation.
I changed "Sample Order #" to "Sample Order". A better name would be "SampleOrderNum#".

I changed the record source for the form from a table to a query. IMO, forms should never have a table as the record source.

In the unbound sub form, double-click on the gray box at the left (the record selector) or double-click on the Sample number to have the main form go to that record.

You shouldn't have the autonumber PK visible on the form.

Hi, I ended up going with a split form for my database and it seems to work beautifully. I just wanted to say thanks for the help!
