    Exclamation Split database - ACCDE

Hi, I split my database. Opened the BE and clicked on Make ACCDE. I also opened the FE (which is in a separate folder) and clicked on Make ACCDE. In this folder there are now 2 copies of the database with one one them being .accde.
Some one please advise on how I should fix this. Thanks much

I noticed that I cannot login with the .accde FE. Some one please advise on how I should fix this.

I don't think the backend is supposed to be accde.

Can't advise without reviewing code and db structure.

    I've never deployed an accde.

Do you have a form that launches at startup? Can the user do everything from this startup form via Run Time?

Hi ItsMe, my Login form launches at startup. After saving the FE as .accde the Login form still launches at startup but it gives no reaction when UserID is selected and password entered.

I've started afresh manytimes. Split new copy of database and made only the FE .accde but it is the same situation. The login form does not react. It is just dead

Splitting the DB and creating an accde file are two separate things. After you split your DB you should Compile the FE file and do thorough testing. Another step would be to change the file extension from accdb to accdr. This will simulate a Run Time environment.

After all of that (change the extension back to accdb), then make your accde file.

Hi ItsMe, the .accde FE login is working now. I think it hadn't worked because I saved the .accde file in the same folder as the original file. Thanks for your assistance.

hey ItsMe, pardon this basic question but just to be clear, in changing the file extension to ".accdr" I'll just add it to the file name right? Because in older versions of windows once you did that, it would clearly change the file format but with Access 2007 the change is not apparent...

Not sure I understand the question. You are not adding anything. You can change the file extension from .mdb to .mdr and back to mdb. Similarly, you can change the file extension from accdb to accdr and back to accdb.

As per my post, I just changed the file name by adding ".accdr" Question is how do you do it?

You don't add '.accdr', you change the 'b' in .accdb to 'r'.

not sure what version of Access you have but I'm using Access 2007 and I cannot change the file extension that is why I add ".accdr" to the file name. Hence my question...
