Split Form Column Headings (Names) in Access 2010

Is there a way of changing the column heading names on the split form portion of an access form. I tried changing them using a query to populate the form and changing the caption of each field in the query and that didn't work. I also tried adding a [Caption] at the design level of the table and that had no affect also. The split form seems to be displaying a portion of the actual field name or something like that. I just wasted a couple hours trying to do this to no avail. Please help. Thank you...

The headings will show whatever the associated label Caption property is. The label must be associated with the control.

Thank you for that information, but I had already looked at that and it didn't work. Your response forced me to look at it again and I discovered that I had edited many of the labels on the objects on this form and my changing the labels on the screen actually changed the label property. Something so simple drove me crazy for a couple hours. Thanks again...
