    Regardless of what you call custom button, it will run whatever code is behind it.

    Record is committed to table when form (or table/query) closes, move to another record, or run code.

    So if you want the form to close with the Save record button, include code to do that.

    Can you confirm with the IRM guy that a separate copy of the accde is on each user PC and not some shared "file" in a shared location?
