I currently use Paradox to manage a database of botanical collections. My main form includes all the fields for a single collection, but also has a portion with a table view showing all related collections, such as those collected on a single day, or from a single place. In other words, this table view can show filtered records or if unfiltered, then just the 20 or so records near the record displayed in the rest of the form. The table view is not restricted to a finite number of records, that is to say that one can scroll to anywhere in the entire table (or filter results). Clicking on a collection in the table view changes the record viewed in the rest of the filter.
I find this to be extremely useful to find a particular record if one knows only one thing about the record itself.
I am bowing to the inevitable demise of Paradox, and am deciding which system to transfer my data to. My preliminary investigation into access shows this table view adjacent to an individual record view to be impossible. Can anyone here shed any light on this?
