    Question Importing Outlook Address Book

Hi when importing the outlook address book is there a way to show the short version eg. myname@hotmail.com, instead of the long version that currently shows?

    Thanks

What is happening that you can not see the address? Are you linking or importing? I seem to remember an interface built into Access that behaves the way you describe. I would recommend importing the Contacts from Outlook into a table and creating your own queries to your Access table.

I importing, the images below will help you understand. The email addresses are there but its an extremely long version that only the servers must use, if you send an email to that address then it actually sends to the correct person.

I don't use the link option to Outlook. I am not sure what functionality you are trying to get, but I choose to Import. If you import, there will be fields that are easier to understand. There will be fields that are familiar to you and you can query these fields to incorporate them in reports and forms that others will understand too.

The disadvantage to importing is that it will be static data. If Outlook changes, you will need to update your table.

When you link to Outlook, it seems you are linking to the system file and not a table that you might expect. Linking to the system file will allow Access to interact with Outlook. The interaction will have limitations.
