Update Stock Values In Access

Hello, I have a database that deals with rented movies. I want a means in Access to enable the stock values of the movie to be updated whenever there is an order for a certain film and whenever its returned. I am not sure if an update query or a macro is needed for this to work and how each would work. Any help would be appreciated.

The function is overkill in most situations. A query or two will give you stock on hand.

I really don't understand the stock on hand thing. And as to why not, why not what. Thanks for replying

I wouldn't try to store stock on hand, I'd calculate it from transactions.
