    I'm known for thinking outside the box which causes the many challenges I face in dbs. So is there an easy solution to clear the cbo box when a new patient is selected or do I still with my idea of multiple buttons?

    That just means, when you get good, you will know EXACTLY where the box is.

    Try this - In the afterupdate of cboPatient, add lines set the cboCPT.Default = NULL or nothing or 0, I've forgotten which. Same for cboDx.

    If that doesn't work (if you get bad records every time) then move the code to BeforeUpdate.

    Actually, the property is DefaultValue:

    cboCPT.DefaultValue = NULL
    How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.
