copy deleted record to another table

I was wondering if deleted records to be copied to a new table?

Why not just add a field to the existing table that will indicate that the record should not be used and filter on criteria for that field.

Deleted records (physically deleted records) are gone.
As Alan said, and this is an old technique I first heard of as shadow delete.
You have a binary/flag field on a record. Its purpose is to identify if a record is Logically Deleted, if so flag is set.
All activity against this table must check the Flag field to see if the record should be included/excluded from processing.
If Flag is set --record is logically deleted -- and should be excluded from processing.
