    Excel Import Errors-Type Conversion Failure

I am a very new user and I am importing (appending) excel files into a table in access, but I consistently receive "type conversion failure" import errors and some cells turn up blank as a result. These errors usually occur in cases where there is a "-" between numbers or alphanumeric combinations in fields that are primarily just numbers. I have set every field type as text and they are listed as such in design view, but these errors persist. Does anyone know why these errors occur even when the field type is set to text and what I can do about it?

    Thanks!

Try setting formats on the Excel cells.

Thanks for your reply, June7. I checked and the excel cells are set to either general or text. Is there another format that is preferable in excel or another source of these errors?

I don't do a lot of Excel import/export and when I do it is often with VBA code that opens Excel object.

Do you want to provide Excel file for analysis? Follow instructions at bottom of my post.

    Sample File for Analysis

Thank you. I am attaching a file with the 3 columns that have been causing errors from one particular file with a lot of them.

Import wizard did not error but TransferSpreadsheet does.

I had to insert a row of text as the first data row in the spreadsheet. This forces TransferSpreadsheet to treat everything that followed as text.
