    Joe, that's what Rawb and I thought but user insists the hidden rows/columns can have their own password protection. I would like to know why they think that and how it is done.

    AFAIK: cells can be locked and formulas hidden but these apply only when protection is turned on and password protection is a sheet feature.

    Maybe it was the wording in one of your previous replies that tripped them up a little...
    Isn't Excel password protection on the workbook
    ...because it allows for two different levels of protection, Workbook and Sheet.
    Maybe he thought you were actually talking about Workbook protection when I think you really meant Sheet protection?

    Those are the only two that I know of too, unless they created their own homegrown protection using VBA...
