Memo field does not allow for scrolling when inserted as subform

This is how the subform/memo field looks before it's inserted into the main form. The field is scrollable:

My goal is to have this memo field look like this once it's inserted into the subform.

However, this is how the subform behaves after it's inserted into the main form:

The problem is that in this format, the subform is not scrollable. Data entered into the memo field appears all on one line. My goal is to allow for multi-line entry.

Here is the properties sheet for the subform AFTER it's inserted into the main form:

I have subforms with memo field and they scroll just fine. Would have to examine database.

In the second image the form appears to be in Datasheet View.

That last image shows properties of the subform container control, not the form that the container holds.
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.
