Just got back last night - family issues out of state .

Looked at it a little, but haven't been able to tear into it. Not sure why controls are not showing up when you open the dB. Hang in there.

No problem I hope all is okay with the family. Family comes first. Could my computer be missing something the controls require?

What confuses me is that a control is disappearing from the form. And maybe some code...

Known issues stemming from age. Hanging in there so far... Thanks.

I opened your last posted dB and can find nothing wrong. The remaining hours on the main form are visible and adding hours to the subform updates the remaining hours control (on the main form).....

Over the weekend I am going to re-create the whole dB to see if that will make a difference.

If you open the main form in design view, do you see the remaining hours control?

based on the image and I downloaded your db. you posted. you got the debug screen because opened the sub form directly and it is now trying to call the main form.

you shouldn't open that form without going thru the frmShitExchange_Main

    Nope.. Didn't (don't) get a debug screen.

I am asking Ht99vpi what he sees in design view.

Okay I liked this but it does not quite work for our process. We may have someone work for another with out a date for the repayment picked yet. In addition we can only work hour for hour for the same person. It did not look like your form worked that way.

Steve I think I see part of the problem with your form on my computer. When I open the frmshiftexchange_main I do not have the top set of data entry. I looked at it in the design view. I have attached pictures. I tried to move the design area around but it still does not display in the form view. Any ideas? This would be why I did not see any remaining hours, I wasn't seeing it or any of the associated fields.

The form works as you described.

top is the form where people want a shift taken and number of hours..needed taken

bottom or subform is where you pick the hours and person that is going to swap the hours .. you can pick multi days and hours. After you enter the hours the number of hours left are shown in the top form next to the person asking for the shift.

Anyway it's there if you like it.

    Good Luck.

After looking at the form again I see that I was entering the information incorrectly. Thank you both for your help, this DB will accomplish the task needed.
