Need help with a query to update an existing database.

    Hi

I am trying to find out how I would go about using a query to update an existing database. I have a database with a table that has 4 digit phone extensions in it. We are now moving to a 5 digit extension and I need to update the database so it has the new digit. Example we are putting a 4 in front of the preexisting extension so ext 1986 will now be 41986.

Is it possible to do this with a query? As their are 7500 records that need to be update and I really don't want to have to do it manually.

    Any help would be great.

    Thanks
    Scott

Here is a video on manipulating data in a query. Look at it and I am sure it will give you an idea of how you need ot proceed.

Thanks for the video it helped a lot.

I do have one more question that wasn't covered in the video. I have a table that has a field in it that is configured as "Text" How can I test to make sure the field is not empty. If it is empty I want to skip that record and move to the next until I find a record that has 4 characters and add a 5th.
