    Custom letters database?

Hi, I'm new here and very new to access also.

I wanted to know if it's possible to create a database which will pull out certain information and include it into letters?

    Here is an example:

Letters from Santa: Childs name, location etc... printed into a basic letter with just those elements updated from each letter?

Also, I assume if that is possible that address labels are too?

All help gratefully received. If you know of a better method than this please let me know.

    Simple answer is yes.

Here is a tutorial that shows a similar example

Ah that seems like it will do what I want it to, well almost. Using that example will I be able to design different letters say letter 1, 2 & 3 and have the database automatically only print those record which are listed as letter 2, printing letter 2 template?

Sorry I'm not very good at explaining what I'm after.

    eg

    Letter templates 1, 2 & 3
    Customer record
    Order 1 details: letter 2
    Order 2 details: letter 3
Print letters for letter 2: Prints letter 2 with order 1 details

Would that just be a case of filtering?

Also I just watched it again and I'm not sure if I'm not getting it fully, but doesn't the mail merge take ALL of the data from that report? What if I only wanted a days worth of data for example?

Use a query for your record source for your report. Set criteria in the query as to what you want extracted.

    Thanks in advance

Suggest you go to YouTube and put in MS Access Building Reports or something similar. There are literally hundreds
