    report built on query

    Hi,

Does a report automatically run the query is is built on or is there code required (i.e. Me.Requery)?

    Thanks,

    Daryl

"Automatically" is pretty all-encompassing -- could you tell us the issue?
What isn't happening that you expected, or what is the issue?

Reports have their own sorting and grouping facilities.

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I was wondering if when I open a report from a switchboard does it run the query that is the control source (if I have the terminology correct) so that it returns the most recent records. I was thinking I may have to tell it to do that with a macro or code, that runs when the report is opened. I hope that makes sense. I'm still a newbie.

    Take care,

    Daryl

The short answer is no you do not need to requery. A query does not hold the data anywhere so everytime you open the report it re-runs the query every time you print or print preview the report. The only thing you have to watch is if you modify the query outside of the report while the report is open. It will not refresh the data fields in the report until you open the query from within the report closing it there automatically refreshes or close the report and re-open it.
