    Form for data entry

Grocery shopping Simple problem 1: I have 3 tables -

Tblcategory - with fields category and aisle
Tblegrocery - with fields grocery id, date, item, category, aisle, qty, amount, total
what I want is a form that I use to enter my grocery receipts and when I get to enter category with a drop down box, the aisle is also shown in the form after I select the category.

your help with this would be greatly appreciated.

    regards,
    eleanor

Sounds like dependent (cascading) comboboxes. Review:

Oops, just reread the OP, not dependent comboboxes but this might be helpful

    Specifically, the two tables are:

tbl category - fields are category and aisle
tblgrocery - date of purchase, item, category, aisle, qty, amount, total, payment memethod

Now I want to use a form to enter the data in the grocery table and have the aisle automatically updated in the form when I select a category.

it is sort of a cheap way to enter my grocery receipts.

    Thanks for your assistance.

    regards,

Read Paul's article carefully. It is totally applicable to your situation. Do you REALLY need to save the aisle value in tblGrocery? Why does it matter what aisle the item was in?
