sorting Bible verses

Hello I am trying to sort scripture verses in a column. The format is: "book chapter:verse". I would like to have all the books in order from Genesis - Revelation and each chapter in order from 1-* and each verse within a chapter from 1-*. However the format I end up with is:


Genesis 1:1
Genesis 1:10
Genesis 1:11
...
Genesis 1:19
Genesis 1:2
Genesis 1:20
Genesis 1:21
...
Genesis 1:9
Genesis 10:1
Genesis 10:11

It should be

Genesis 1:1
Genesis 1:2
Genesis 1:3
...
Genesis 1:31
Genesis 2:1
Genesis 2:2

I know its not your typical sort order, but any ideas?

Um, its Corny, but will work!

instead of using the :
Use the Alphabets, its sorting by Alpha/Numeric
or both. Depending on what your doing, you may be able to hide the column with the Alphabets.


Genesis 1:1
Genesis 1:2
Genesis 1:3
Genesis 1:4
Genesis 1:5
Genesis 1:6
Genesis 1:7
Genesis 1:8
Genesis 1:9
Genesis 1 :A:10
Genesis 1:A:11
Genesis 1:A:12
...

Update: you only said Column, which, can be wide and broad. I would need more details, there maybe a better way!
