Corrupt database? can I fix it?

    Hello

I have an access 97 database which I can no longer gain access to. To cut a long story short, I had the message that the database needed to be repaired when I tired to go into it today. When I clicked yes the database started to repair then it appeared to hang and it crashed.

Now when I try to open the database I get the following message

Cannot update. Database or object is read-only.

I have the option to click ok or help. Help just gives me the bumpf about read only options which doesnt help.

I have to click "ok" 3 times before the message closes and then nothing happens.

Is my database dead? can I save it without the use of 3rd party software?

    Thanks

    Alex

This is a document that I've referred to in the past when faced with this issue. Eventually, we upgraded to using an ADP/ADE with a SQL back end.

No guarantees of course, but one of these tricks might work for you.
