How do I link pop-up form IDs with main form?

I'm new to databases and trying to set one up from scratch and i've come across a problem that I need some help with please.

I have a main table/form that contains general information about a candidate but without showing their personal details. I have personal details in a separate table/form that I want to access via a button that makes the personal details form 'pop-up' as a separate form. I've managed to do this, but what I'm struggling with is linking the two together.

The ID needs to be linked so that the relevant personal details pop-up opens from the right record (i.e. record ID 7 links to personal details pop-up ID 7). I also need to make sure that whatever information is added into the personal details pop-up is saved under the right record ID when its closed.

I hope that makes sense and any help would be appreciated!
