Copy Paste the entire MS Access Database

What issues does one need to be aware of when copying an entire database (because it has the same necessary objects) as the new database has the same needs but it works against different


set of data.

Just a simple copy paste work?

Copy and rename.

Is this a split or all-in-one design?

Why do you need two identical dbs? Will design edits need to be done on both?

It is a split design in the sense that tables are stored in another MDB file (backend) and forms, reports etc are stored in the front end database. The tables in the front end DB are linked to the tables in the backend.

Design edits need to be done (if necessary) on only the new database.

The reason for creating this new database is that I have a similar requirement from a different client, with a different set of data (data structure being the same)

Okay, make copy of both parts and rename as desired.

Delete data from the new backend.

Modify table links if backend renamed.

Thanks, one last question, when I copy and paste the backend db, will deleting the data from this new backend affect the original database in any way. I just want to make sure that there is no link established between the two databases (old and new) when I copy, which might accidentally delete data from the first database (old)

The copies have nothing do with the originals. The copies have different names (unless you copy to another folder location and keep the same names). The table links of original are unaffected by the copy procedure.
