    Comparison

    Hello all,

I want to thank anyone who helps with this in advance!

I would like access to be able to tell me whether or not a file is included in a spreadsheet or text file and vice versa.

Basically I have spreadsheets which are already invoiced and I want to take a current invoice and see which files were already invoiced but not ftp'd and which ones were ftp'd and not invoiced. i would run the check for the spreadsheets against the text files. I'd like it to return unique values only showing which files don't exist in one or the other.

let me know if that makes sense. I can provide an example of the two files if needed.

    Thanks,

    Raymond

In my view your issue is not an Access issue per se. You need to define your underlying business process to identify and verify and document what data comes from where, goes to where under what conditions, and is sufficiently documented to handle some form of rudimentary audit trail.

I recommend you build a flow chart of what your process is (at the highest level) for invoicing. Document everything you can and confirm the process(es) with your finance/invoice group. Determine how you do/should document which files are invovled with what invoice; what gets ftp'd from and to where under what circumstances.

    Good luck with your project
