Comparing Two years of Sales Data

I have two years worth of sales data, 2011 and 2012 YTD. I would like to compare daily activity against each other for example August 1 against August 1 from different years. There will be as many as 500 orders in a day. The date fields have the year associated with each record, example, 1-JUL-2011. There is really no unique field associated in each table. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have tried a lot of things but nothing really "clean". Thanks.

My Recommendation is create 2 queries 1 for 2011 and 1 for 2012 Include 2 additional columns 1 for the month of the year and 1 for the day of the month. Create a 3rd query using those 2 queries as the source tables. Link on the 2 additional columns. Include the approprate fields from each query use a sum, count, average whatever you're trying to compare and group by the rest of the columns you need.
