    account balance db help

i need to create a database to track customer membership payments

our members are required to pay a set amount each month till the end of their membership. most of the payments automatically come out of their checking accounts, but if for some reason a payment bounces we need to keep track, and add a return payment charge for their account.

im completely drawing a blank on how i need to design this, tables, queries ect...
    can someone help

Do the automatic payments actually connect to the database? Are you inputting the info? Is this simply customer tracking or do you need double entry accounting rules?
