    Report Grouping - Months

    Hi,

I have a Month field ("mmm") that I am grouping on my report. I have two issues with this:

    1. At the moment they are sorting alphabetically rather than chronologically (maybe reading as text? Although I can't see where).

    2. Even if they were sorted chronogogically, it wouldn't meet my needs because it is financial year data, and therefore needs to be ordered "Jul, Aug, Sep, Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May, Jun".

    Any suggestions?

    Kirsti

If the month data is in the form 'mmm' then it is an alpha value and will sort alpha.

Calculate a field that has year and month parts - 201107, 201112, 201203, etc. Use that field for sorting.

Thanks June. I ended up using a nested IIf statement in the query to assign each month with a number (i.e. Jul = 1, Aug = 2 etc). And sorted on that field in the report.
