Filter Out Old Records in a Query

I have 100 unique ID numbers allocated to 10 Areas. Each Area contains 10 ID numbers.

In the Table each record will contain, an entry date, ID number, the relevant Area code, and 3 other peices of numerical data.

It is guarenteed that every week all 100 unique ID numbers will be updated with new numerical data (the 3 pieces mentioned above). The area and ID number will never change.

I wish to form a query that will only show the records of the newest update (most recent entry date) by area. The purpose of this query will be to feed a report I have created summarizing the most recent updates.

For right now I only have 1 (entry date) and I was able to complete the report summary just fine. I ran into trouble when I atempted to add in new records with an updated date. The report summary now produces 2 lines per each ID number instead of just the most recent.

I wish to keep a history of all the records in the table so just deleting them isn't an option. I have tried several things, but can't seem to get only the newest records.

In summary - I have a list of items I need updated weekly and want to create a report with only the newest dates. Deleting old records is not an option.

    I am using Access 2010

I hope this description is clear enough, Thanks.

When the query is opened you are prompted for a date parameter. This will make it easy to go back and review a particular week if I need to.

    Thanks a lot!
