    Question Matrixed Reporting Structure Query

    Morning,

I have database where each employees reporting structure is matrixed, meaning there is say 4 columns (manager level 1, manager level 2 and so on). Some people report the assistant manager while other report directly to the manager. You can see below an example. What I am trying to do it say find everyone who report to Richard who is the manager of the department, but his name could appear in any of these columns. Is there a good way to do this? Thanks

    Jason

    MGR1_LAST_NM MGR1_FIRST_NM MGR2_LAST_NM MGR2_FIRST_NM MGR3_LAST_NM MGR3_FIRST_NM

I wanted them to all be in a selectable column so we could run all the managers or be able to select one, alphabetize ect.

Try putting the same input parameter under each field but on differenet OR rows in the query design grid.
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.

why not just use a simple operand....OR. wouldn't that be sufficient? If that's the only requirement, the solution is simple.
