Opening an Access database issues

I have had issues opening Access databases periodically where when you double click the database file, it does not open, nor when you right click over the file and select open, it also does not open.

When this happens, the only way it opens is when you open Access first, then select the database from Access and open it.

Has anyone run into this before or know why it might happen?

I experience this occasionally. Seems Access does not close 'cleanly', Windows still thinks the file is open, the ldb file might or might not still be there. However, seems like when the double click would not work for me the right click open did. Been couple months since last time happened.
