    Prefix character in ID field

    Hi,
I need to be able to set a prefix character in a AutoNumber field,
    for example W1234.

The prefix will always be the same.

    Is this possible?
    Many thanks

Why? Why do you need this?
Autonumber fields are used by Access for system purposes. They are unique only - not necessarily sequential.
If you need a field for your use, create a different kind of field.

I need to have a number autgenerated that the user can see and refer to but cannot alter.

Is there another way to do this?

    Thanks
