Making a template out of an existing database?

Sorry, I want to apologize ahead but I have no knowledge about Access. We have a shared personnel access database for our department. Another department is wanting to use the same database. Is there a way to go about deleting all the info and making a template to give the other dept to use? Thanks in advance.

This is simple exercise. Create a new database and name it. On the Ribbon, select external data---->Import. Access. Select the existing database. When the window opens, select all tables, forms, queries, modules, macros, etc. Make sure to check the box that states structure only. Then import. You will have a new database that is the same as the original without any data.

    alansidman,

I followed your instructions on importing but I did not see a check box for "structure only" Please see the attach picture of what I have. So under import objects I went under "Options" and the only thing I change was in the Import Tables box from 'Definitions and Data' to 'Definition Only'. As I continue on with the importing, I came across a few error windows below. So it was complete, the data base was missing certain tables and did not open as it should. I'm stuck.

You appear to have it correct in the picture. In your original database, do a compact and repair and try it again. Make sure to get everything except the data (definition only) for each tab.

The compact and repair didn't do much. I'm still getting the same error importing some of the table.

I'm at a loss at this point. Since you have got all the objects except the one table. Try just importing the one table into the new db that has all the other objects.
