    Running totaling with a query

Hi all, I am new to using access and trying to work out a query that will transform the set of data I have into one with a sort of running total figure.

The data I have is in the format shown here:
    Item date movement
    A 20120401 1
    A 20120502 2
    A 20120527 2
    A 20120610 -5
    A 20120701 2
    B 20120408 5
    B 20120503 3
    B 20120601 -10
    B 20120701 11
    B 20120808 1

And I was looking to add this extra column on the end which calculates a running total for each product code.

    Item date movement running total
    A 20120401 1 1
    A 20120502 2 3
    A 20120527 2 5
    A 20120610 -5 0
    A 20120701 2 2
    B 20120408 5 5
    B 20120503 3 8
    B 20120601 -10 -2
    B 20120701 11 9
    B 20120808 1 10

If anyone has any suggestions on where to start let me know.

    Thanks

You can search on running sum. It typically involves DSum() or a subquery. Here's a start:
