Thanks, that's what I ended up doing. I didn't want to post a solution till I was sure it worked. However, if the database is SQL Server I prepend "SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER OFF " to my SQL statement I generate when I open the recordset. Thanks for your help. Eddie
