    Sub Report Layout.

    I have a report for a label.
It has a Sub Report with one Text Box that displays detail.
The Sub Report has its 'Can Grow set to 'Yes'.
When there are several rows of data for the Sub Report - the data goes to multiple rows and eventually a second Column appears within the Text Box.

I want to stop the Sub Report growing beyond the Bottom & Right boundaries of the Main Report so that data does not spill over onto another label.
But - I also want the Sub Report to be able to fill to the maximum that the Main Report [label] will hold.

I'd appreciate any help with this.

I created this label report a year ago and it is only now running into the issue of multiple rows of data in the Sub Report . . . and I'm not even sure if I did anything specific to get the one text box in the Sub Report to show multiple rows . . . and then the second column.

I'm not sure I understand what you are saying about a second column just "appearing"?

For the number of rows, does your report have a footer? Would that stop it spilling over? With a Can Grow set to No?

I had an issue recently where I had to recreate a one-page report every time the subform spilled over to a second page. If this is your issue I can check and see how I solved it (it was pretty painful!).

My 'Report' is printing on a Label [it is a Label Report] - which will be stuck on the box that contains the items in the Sub Report.

    Second column:
In the process of trying to explain it to you - I figured out that my sub-report by default had two columns. So that question of mine [where's the second column coming from?] is answered.
I was able to answer another question of mine [preventing spillover to the side] - by playing with the column width. Once I reduced the column width, the data is no longer spilling over to the right side of the label. Previously, my column width was more than half the width of the Text Box.

I'm thinking that since I know that the vertical space on the sub report allows for 5 rows [so a max of 10 records - 5 in each of the two columns] - I can have the query for the sub-report only return the 'Top 10' records . . .

I'm going to play with it a little more and see if I can get it sorted out.

Thanks for taking the time to try & help. Appreciate it!

If the label is an exact size, why is the Can Grow set to Yes?

Glad you managed to sort out your other issues.
