    Item Availability help

im designing a database for a rental company, as part of a college project.

I'm still in the design process right now though and i have a total of 4 weeks to get a working prototype up and running.
In their database they want that if their product is being rented then they can just tick a box to say so (easy enough), but they want it that so when the box gets ticked a new field will become available to input what time it will become available again. They also want that product to become unavailable for that selected time to avoid overbooking.

i'm still relatively new to access so go easy on me!

    Any help will be great

    thanks.

My suggestION is to step back a little to see the big picture. Get your table structures designed. Write down each of the things involved and how they relate and any conditions (business rules). Create some test data and test your structures, (tables and relationships) to see if the model supports the data and rules. Thoroughly test the model with the rules to ensure the model is correct.

Don't assume anything about statements like this
when the box gets ticked a new field will become available to input what time it will become available again.
write these things down to make sure you understand what it is, what it means and how it relates to other "things".
