Overtype values and create new record

    OK please bear with me...

I want to create a grid, in appearance like a spreadsheet, that is populated with values held in a table. Not all grid squares will be populated but it is important that current values from the table are displayed. I then want to be able to type in a value into an empty grid square, which would then create a new record. The values of the displayed records will be used to calculate a total.

On the face of it a spreadsheet would seem to be the answer but I want to create a history of values entered in the grid.

There is a bit more to it than the above but I reckon if I can crack the above problem then I can probably sort out the rest.

Will be away for a few days so may not respond immediately.

    Thanks for any help.

Welcome to the forum. Your post as you have described is not really using Access or Database terminology. Grid and spreadsheet are terms one would associate with Excel.

Perhaps you should start out by describing, preferably with a simple example, what exactly you want to do. Others are likely to identify with what you want and offer suggestions and advice as to how it might be accomplished.

    Good luck.
