I want to design something where I can track invoices we receive. So, the normal information (vendor, inv date, amount, etc) that I can pull together in order to see costs over the year. Not sure were to start. Any pointers?

Make sure you understand database normalization and design your db to at least 3rd normal form. Without knowing more that means you need a minimum of 3 tables
