How to set up table to Track Tennis matches for College Team

I need to create a table to store tennis match information. I then need to create a form to enter the data. I can do all of this but I am having some issues with my thought process. There will be multiple matches (10?) during the season. For each college match there will be 6 singles matches and 3 doubles matches. The six singles matches will be seeded 1,2,3,4,5,6 and the 3 doubles matches will be seeded, 1,2,3. I will need to enter my players name and opponent for each of the six singles matches and two of my players names and two opponents name for the three doubles matches. I will also need to insert a score for each match. The score will be entered at a later date after the match is completed. I have some basic knowledge of databases. My dilemma is as follows: How do I set up the table to enter names for each Singles entry and each Doubles entry. Go back later and enter the score to the same record. This would allow me to later query the table for records for individuals and scores for individuals. I do not see how to accomplish this without having a separate name field and score field for each Singles and Doubles entry. I am really open for advice and thanks.

How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.

Because of the word Access in the site name I thought it could be database software. I did not sign up to get the download so didn't check it out. On second look, it must be games. When I Googled 'Access tennis database' that was one of the very few hits returned.

You stated 'need to create a table to store tennis match information'. What is required to construct a relational database will likely involve many tables and forms. Check out the 'sticky' thread tutorial on relational database principles at http://forums.aspfree.com/microsoft-access-help-18/

I did another Google: tennis tournament management database
Got better hits. This one might be an on-line subscription service or might be fully downloadable app for a cost http://www.tennispoint.com/
    and another http://tennislink.usta.com/TOURNAMEN...mhomepage.aspx
http://www.eteamz.com/ has a tennis module. Supposed to be able to track player stats.

Buying might actually be cheaper than the time and frustration involved in building from scratch.

If you must build your own, draft out a database schema and post it for review.

Thanks for your info: Not interested in buying. You are providing lots of links but are not researching what you are posting. Those links are not anything that I am looking for. One is for tournaments only etc. Again, thanks.

How to set up table to Track Tennis matches for College Team

    Hi aldeb47,

Check this site out, might be a good starting point,

    http://www.databaseanswers.org/data_...ents/index.htm

I think the Chess Tournaments tables will be close to Tennis Matches.

    Thanks
