Append Query Question

If I build an Append Query will the table that is created import new records from the query or all the records? For example, if I run a query for January and make an Append Query table then in February when I run the query and get January and February data, will the table extract only the February data?

If you have other criteria setup within your query to isolate monthly data, you should only be appending that months data to the new table...correct?

If you do not filter the records in some way then they all will be appended into the destination table. So one option is to filter the append query to only append the records you want. A second option is to set up some index in the destination table that prevents duplicates that way when you run the append it will try to append all records but will not be allowed to append those that would create a duplicate. You will receive an error message when you run the query.

thanks.. that was what i assumed i would need to do. I could easily filter the new months that i need to append to the table. Data from January may change come July and I want to make sure i keep the integrity of the data and dont inadvertently count someones data incorrectly due to the party responsible changing, i.e sales associates are reassigned someone elses sales portfolio later in the year.
