    Designing Form (Beginner)

    Good Afternoon

    I am building a form for our roster clerks to use when employees book leave.

    The table it is based on (tblLeaveBooked) has several fields, which relate to AutoNumber Primary Keys in other tables, for example EmployeeID.

    How do I set up a field as a combobox, so they can lookup the employee?

    Thanks
    Chris

    In table design view, select the Foreign Key field (the one that relates to the autonumber primary key in another table), then in the field properties select the "Lookup" tab.

    In the Display Control property put "Combo Box".

    In the row source put (using Employees as an example):

    Select [EmployeeID], [LastName] & ", " & [FirstName] as EmployeeName from [tblEmployees] Order By EmployeeName;

    In the ColumnCount property put 2.

    In the ColumnWidths property put "0;" (without the quotes).

    Now, whenever you create a form using this table and you place the EmployeeID field on it, it will appear as a combo box that looks up ID values from the Employees table.
