    Question Relationship

I'm creating this database to keep track of my inventory.

1 question is about the tables as follows

    1st table = tblMFG (key = mfg_id)
2nd table = tblModel <- this is the main table
    3rd table = tblParts (key=part_id)

I know that mfg can make many models = 1 to many

Now my question is for model to parts to model

1 model can have many parts but that one part can be used on many
model. So is the relationship many to many ?

2nd question is that i have 2 more tables to create but not sure if I should incorporate them in tblModel

4th table = tblPower (key = power_id) (but each model can only be 1 type
of power. So its not really redundant)( maybe can make a
drop down list/check box if a good idea)

5th table = tblPDF (key = PDF_id) (each model has its own pdf) (it will be
a hyperlink to somewhere on hdd)

So should i just make 2 tables for the above or just add to the tblModel table since each model will only have one type of power and only one pdf file for now.

If any question feel free to PM or ask.

Thank you for all the help....

    Yes, that is many-to-many.

Sounds to me like power and pdf fields could just be in tblModel, although concerned about the 'for now' qualification. You could split the fields out to separate tables later, difficulty depends how many queries, forms, reports would have to modified.
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.
