    Import specification help

    Hello,

Please keep in mind that I am not the most access savvy individual.

We are having an issue at my work where import specifications are being used to import text files into a table. The problem is we recently noticed that whenever it does an import its automatically making the first row headers and excluding the information from the table. So for example the text file has 60 rows and 23 columns but its only importing 59 rows of information.

Can someone help explain a permanent fix for this. Please try to explain in very basic language for me.

Thank you very much in advance.

    TPLEE

    Import specification help

    Hi Tplee,

I would suggest re-do the import specification table again and make sure the checkbox that mentions "First row is headers" in unchecked.

    Just a thought!

I think we already looked into this, but I will double check. That is the main problem we don't know why in the auto import its making the first row headers.

    Thank you for the reply.

    Import specification help

    Hi Tplee,

Are you running the import process from a command button on a form and code behind this?

yes we have an import button setup on a form. Then it auto grabs the text file and imports it into a table name.

    Import specification help

    Tplee,

I am at a loss as to what the issue could be, has the text table changed in any way, like it now has column header?

    Anyone else has some clues?

    Just a thought

No. The txt file is exactly the same as it always has been. We just discovered its been doing this. I've gone into the import specifications and made sure the headers box wasnt checked for the first row. I have no idea why its doing this.

    Import specification help

    Tplee,

If this is a common issue, maybe it's in your code.
Would you please share your code for importing your text file with us?
