From my experience, the link to Excel is read only.
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.

I would be interested in knowing how you make the linked spreadsheet editable from Access. Every link I have tested does not allow edits. If I could do this then I could explore your issue.

I used a subform and a mainform which has one of my field to search by typing the username in, then the subform display the information such as address, then i added comment field, which the user type in. and a next button on the subform to go through all the accounts under that username.

On another note, I have an exit button on the form, is there a way I could get it to save a default value in the user name,it seems to save the last name that was use in the search username button.

Search control should be unbound. If it is bound you will change value in the table. This will really mess up your data.

I still don't have an editable linked spreadsheet.
