    Package ado with runtime app

I have developed an access app that uses ado for connection to SQL Server. I need to distribute a runtime version of this app to multiple user desktops that have Access 2003 installed.

I have used the Package Solution Wizard to an install package that includes the Access 2010 runtime (32 bit). Can I also include the ado dll in the install package (msado15.dll)? Does the install need to somehow register ado on the destination machine?

ADO is not installed by Access. It is part of Windows. Which version of Windows are you targeting? If you are targeting Windows XP machines, or later, you should be able to reference ADO 2.8 just fine and it should have no problem.

Thanks boblarson. I figured this out just a short while ago. I had been developing my Access app on a Windows 7 machine and had referenced ado 6.0 originally, and this was not bring found on XP machines. When I changed the reference to ado 2.7 in my app, it worked on XP without a problem.

Thanks for taking the time to post your answer. It confirmed what I had only guessed.
