Is there a new Access that can house more than 2.0million MB?



Trying to submit a case to management on why Access is not a valid backend tool for us and we should use MS SQL as backend and then can use Access as a frontend.

It isn't a record size it is a database size. I have seen Access databases with over 2 million records. I know of one that has over 10.

As long as the overall database size does not exceed 2GB, Access will take it.

Having said that I will say this: Those kinds of numbers will drastically increase search and processing times.

Yes I know it is not a record size but a space size. I have 56 separate Access databases because of the size of data we get each month. And they are all puzzle pieced together. I am trying to get them to invest in sql server because they use access like a giant storage bucket and they complain when the queries have to be run over night or reports take forever.

What's the sort of database with such a giant amounts of data? Just curious :-)
