I don't know what I did to my Access 2007, but when I attempt to open any mdb file that is already opened by another user on out network, Access just ignores me. It won't even attempt to open.
What is wrong here?

Your post suggests that things were working but you don't specify whether they were working with an earlier version of Access, or they were working before you or someone else made some changes (perhaps the the record locking settings?).
Please elaborate.
Things were working fine until a while ago. Not sure if I accidently did something to my settings. We are using Access 2007.
This only happens to me. Other users have no problem opening the myriad of Access files we have out there on the network.
Again, if the mdb is already opened by another and I then try to open it, nothing happens, Access won't even open up on my screen.
What other details do you need?
Without getting into specifics, all I can do is guess: Look in Access Options/Advanced/Advanced. See if the settings there are the same as other users. Particularly the first two items.Things were working fine until a while ago. Not sure if I accidently did something to my settings. We are using Access 2007.

yep, they're the same. I don't get it.
How bout I uninstall Access and reinstall?
Will Office let me uninstall only the Access or will it wipe out all Office apps?
That is extreme. !!!
What else might you have changed, e.g. some network settings or permissions?
Over my head now. Good luck.
What happens when you open access first and try to go to the database from the main interface?
Wow! thanks for that advice, it works!
If I open Access and then open the mdb in question that is already opened by others it works!
What does that tell us though as to why I can't directly open these mdbs?
Hi
It sounds a though the db has NOT been split.
If you have a single mdb file that is being used at the same time by multiple users it will become corrupted. Such files should be split in to a Backend and Frontend. The backend holds the tables. The frontend has the forms etc. Each user has a copy of the frontend on their machine and each frontend is linked to the tables in the single backend.

Not sure what that means, database being split.
We have 1 mdb that is accessed by 20 users at once. These users, when they open the mdb are presented with the Form that was built for them. They do not see any tables or queries.
If I wish to open the mdb and not bring up the Form, I hold the shift key as I open the file to give me access to everything.
At the momment up to 20 users are using a single mde file at the same time. Yes?Not sure what that means, database being split.

What you should have is one mdb file to hold the data tables (Back end).
Each user should have another mdb file (Front end) which has everything else that the current mdb has except the tables which are in the Back end. Each Front end is then linked to the single Back end mdb file.
Not doing this is a common cause of database corruption.

No idea. I have seen this behavior before somewhere though for the life of me I can't remember why I tried going through Access first as opposed to clicking on the mdb. It could be that your file associations in windows for mdb files has a conflict of some sort.
